Tamir Ginz writes about the tour in Germany from which the company returned this month

We were very proud and honored to be able to tour Germany for three weeks and bring our art to Europe, at these challenging time for the people of the world and especially to Israel.

This month we returned from a big tour in Germany. It was warm hearting to receive applause from thousands of fans. Seven performances in magnificent and huge theatres that were full to the brim, non-stop applause and enthusiastic stamping of the feet – as only the Germans to, ended each performance. The terrific feedback and unreserved support of the audience and the curators who invited us were a blessing at this time.

We started the tour with “WILD AWAKE” with two performances in Neuss, where the city’s cultural director Benjamin Reissenberger expressed his appreciation to the choreography and dasncers and declared himself a true friend of Kamea. From there we continued to the international dance festival at Kempten, the life achievement of Richard Clug. This picturesque ancient city that hosts a wonderful festival every year has already become a second home for us as this was our third visit. Along with those who come to the city to rest, as a starting point for a vacation to the Alps, came many others from all over the district who follow Kamea and it was obvious from their greetings that they were waiting to meet us again.

In the second week we arrived in Munich. Our two weeks’ residency in Munich is a result of Beer Sheva’s twin city alliance with Munich, which stands by Israel and declares itself as a loyal friend of Beer Sheva and Israel with no reservations during this year’s crisis. The Israeli flag is hoisted as of October 7 in Marienplatz – in the center of the city, on the ancient impressive city hall tower, it is watched by tens of thousands every day. The leaders of the municipality of Munich cooperated to bring Kamea Dance Company to Germany following their visit to our studio last year. The friendship between the people of Munich, the theater director and us flourished.

During our stay in Munich, in collaboration with the International Dance School “Iwanson”, we held workshops for the Munich dancers and rehearsals for our shows to which the students were invited to watch,  we were covered on the news in the National Bavarian television and more. I personally also participated in artist meetings led by dance experts for the general public.

The highlight of the current tour was a week with 4 performances of my works “CARMINA BURANA” and “MATTHUS PASSION 2727” in Munich’s magnificent theater “Deutsches Theater”. It is a huge theater with 1600 seats, magnificent and spectacular, which inspires enormously both the performers and the audience alike.

At the end of the premiere evening at the “Deutsches Theater”, a reception was held under the auspices of the Consulate General of Israel in Germany Mrs. Talia Lador Fresher, the second mayor of Munich Dominik Krause and the members of the municipal departments, representatives of the Bavarian government and the entire staff of the Israeli consulate. The director of the theater, Thomas Linsmayer, congratulated and commended the company and thanked all the partners in this project and declared his intention to continue our cooperation.

We returned to Israel full of hope for better days for our mission of creativity, to the performances and eager to meet the Israeli audience that we love so much.

We are looking forward to our return to Germany for another round on April 25.
